Decorating Your Billiard Room

Decorating Your Billiard Room

Now that you’ve got the billiard table of your dreams, it’s time to start decorating your billiard room! Decorating, for some, can be quite a hassle, but if approached with the right attitude, can be the part that’s the most fun of completing the perfect billiard room!

Where to Start

The first thing you should do when decorating your billiard room, is laying it all out in your head or on paper first. You don’t want to end up with all kinds of decorations that don’t go together, or are of colors that clash with each other and make your billiard room look tacky. Since you’ve already purchased your billiard table, you can decorate your room around the color of the table. For instance, you shouldn’t paint the walls a color that will clash with the color of your billiard table. A good neutral color for the walls that doesn’t clash is a good way to start decorating your billiard room. The paint will offset your billiard room from the rest of the house, and set the mood for the fun of the game room.

Once you’ve painted, you should choose a billiard lamp. Billiard lamps are the lights that hang from the ceiling, providing light for the players to shoot. Billiard lamps come in all sorts of styles and colors, so choose the one that best compliments your billiard room and your personal preferences.

The Finishing Touches

Putting the finishing touches on your billiard room can make or break it for you. Choose wall hangings that suit your taste, and won’t be offensive to guests. You can find decorations for your billiard room at sporting goods stores and any home decorating stores. You’ll also need a cue rack. These are usually made of some type of wood, so you should try to find one that’s of the same style and type of wood as your billiard table.

If there isn’t the space in your billiard room for large game room furniture, try bar stools, as these “go with the flow” of billiards, and are conducive to getting up and down quite a bit. If you are going to add large furniture, you’ll need to choose upholstery colors, and wood styles that compliment the color of the paint, and color and style of your billiard table. If you will be adding other games to your billiard room, like a foosball table or a poker table, try to get them in the same wood grain or finish as the billiard table (which is likely the most expensive piece of equipment in the room).

Depending on the amount of space that you have, you can turn the billiard room into a multi-purpose game room, install a wet bar, TV, or other amenity to really make your billiard room a center point in your home that everyone will enjoy. Most importantly, you should remember to have fun decorating, and be sure to add the personal touches that make your billiard room your own!

Family Fun With a Billiard Room

Family Fun With a Billiard Room

Family fun with a billiard room is a dream for some families. Spending time with the ones you love, playing a challenging game of billiards is a great way to spend your spare time.

Billiards

Billiards is game much like pool but on a larger table and a few adjustments to the rules. Billiards have been around for a long time originating in England where it was a past time that was very popular. Billiard rooms were very formal and chockfull of leather and heavy wood. A very male dominated past time. Families typically would not gather in the billiard room but that has changed.

A Billiard Room

Billiard rooms are gaining in popularity again. During the 1970’s billiard rooms were often in American homes. Than they disappeared again for a while.

A billiard room today is not required to be dark and masculine and there can be plenty of family fun with a billiard room, it has lost its exclusive men’s only feel. Family fun with a billiard room begins as soon as the predator p3 black luxe pool cues come in and the billiard table is installed.

Everyone wants to try their hand at the skill of shooting billiards. The billiard room can be a gathering room where friends and family can come to kick back and relax. Your billiard room can be extended to neighbors and friends, teams can be made up and tournaments can be held. Fun with a billiard room would be something each member of the family would look forward to.

A billiard room can be used as a party room as well. Having birthday parties in the billiard room with a hardtop pool table cover would be a great way to guarantee family fun. Allowing family members to invite there friends over on pre-scheduled days would insure no bickering amongst siblings and would also guarantee family fun.

Billiard rooms do not have to be extravagantly decorated, they can be simply designed. Even the billiard table does not have to be top of the line if the goal is for family fun. The billiard table can be quite simple. Even a second hand billiard table would work fine.

Other games can be incorporated into the billiard room. Air hockey would be a great addition to a billiard room. Board games can be made available as part of the stock of added fun for the room, video games and comfortable seating would be another great addition to the room too.

Expense

Paying for a billiard table and having it installed in a dedicated space can be expensive but when taken into account how much money is spent on outside entertainment for families it does not seem that expensive. Family fun with a billiard room will be worth the expense and will pay for itself over time.

Hottest Game Room Trends Right Now

Hottest Game Room Trends Right Now

Even in new home design, the home game room is seeing a big resurgence in prevalence as more and more people want to stay home to have fun (which is less expensive) and want to make their home game rooms the neighborhood’s favorite.  The hottest game room trends are not necessarily those that are more expensive, either.  Let’s look at what mainstream America is incorporating into the hottest home game rooms around the country.

Hot Game Room Trends: Signs

While you don’t want a slouch mess of posters and signs splattered all over your game room, a few well-chosen game room signs are all the rage.  Choose pub signs, neon bar signs, beer signs, and more. The market is huge for these signs, so you’ll find a plethora of options out there.  There are also trendy personalized game room signs, like “John’s Man Cave” or the “Johnson’s Getaway” for example, that can be customized with your favorite saying.

Hot Game Room Trends: Sports Themed Colors

No matter what team you’re rooting for, enjoying the game in a sports team themed game room is the ultimate fan experience – even if it’s your son’s high school football team.  Choose the colors of your favorite team, and incorporate those colors throughout the room with throws, pillows and accessories in the shade of the team’s colors as well as pain and trim on the walls.  Posters are great – as are autographed baseballs and other memorabilia.

Hot Game Room Trends: Great Flooring

The home game room is no longer limited to the hard concrete of the basement; quite the contrary.  Many of the hottest game rooms have a variety of flooring options, including bamboo, hardwood, cork, ceramic, or even carpet. Race fan? Go for black and white tile to make the room a checkered flag theme. Make sure that the flooring you choose for your family’s ultimate game room is easy to clean, however – because we all know how messy those Super Bowl parties can be.

Hot Game Room Trends: Furniture

When choosing your game room furniture, the sky is the limit, really. From pub chairs and accessories that are made more for the club scene than the home, to pinball machines and custom bar stools, decorating your home game room with fun furnishings adds to the pleasant atmosphere of the room.  Keep little ones in mind, however, if you have kids in the home – and choose kid-friendly furnishings that are easy to clean and easy to use.

Hot Game Room Trends: Lighting

Lighting can really set the mood for your game room, and since many game rooms are in the basement where lighting is minimal, you’ll want to make sure you have sufficient lighting for all of your activities. From pub lamps and bar lamps to over the table lamps made specifically for pool tables, there are tons of options for you.  There are also personalized options when it comes to lighting for your game room – so choosing a coordinating sign and lamp is a great way to make the room come together.
